When you pass a bicyclist in your lane, what's the least space you may leave?
The rule
Florida law requires at least 3 feet of clearance when you drive next to or pass a bicyclist, and caution or a slow speed while you do.
Give a bicyclist at least 3 feet when you pass, and slow down. If you can't give 3 feet, stay behind until you can.
From the Official Florida Driver License Handbook, page 81. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DMV have the final word.
