An ambulance behind you has its siren and flashing lights on. What should you do?
The rule
When an emergency vehicle comes from any direction using a siren or flashing lights, pull as far right as you can and stop until it passes; rolling slowly isn't enough. Never stop in an intersection: drive through, then pull over.
An emergency vehicle using its siren and flashing lights has the right of way. Pull as far right as you can, stop, and wait until it has gone by.
From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 120. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
