On which side should you pass a large truck?
The rule
Pass a truck or bus on the left; pass one on the right only if it's absolutely necessary. Passing a big vehicle takes longer than passing a car, so don't linger in its blind spot.
Pass a large truck on the left. Don't ride beside it longer than you need to, and don't pass on the right unless you absolutely must.
From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 106. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
