Practice question · Signals and lights

On a city street, how far before a turn should you start signaling?

The rule

Signal at least 100 feet before you turn, even when no one seems to be around, and turn the signal on before you brake.

Turn your signal on at least 100 feet ahead of a turn, so drivers, bike riders and pedestrians know what you plan to do.

From the Massachusetts Driver's Manual, page 97. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the RMV have the final word.
