At a railroad crossing, the gate goes up but the red lights are still flashing. What should you do?
The rule
After stopping at a railroad crossing, stay stopped until every track is clear, the warning lights stop flashing, the gates are up and it's safe. Never drive around or under a lowered gate.
Stay stopped until all tracks are clear, the lights stop flashing and the gates are up. Another train could be coming.
From the Georgia Drivers' Manual, page 21. This question is our own wording of that rule. The handbook and the DDS have the final word.
